Location St. Pius X School Pickup
The Season of Advent is quickly approaching and it's time to join St. Philip Neri in bringing Christmas to children who otherwise wouldn't be celebrating. Last year we were able to provide Christmas to approximately 310 children. Again this year, there are many families in need at St. Philip Neri that need our help...maybe even more now than ever... and we are hoping that we can help provide assistance for those children in need.
Due to COVID restrictions, we will not be having a store this year. We will be doing things more like last Lenten Season with the red and green bags. We will assign each child to a red or green "nice" trash bag (red for girls; green for boys). The bags will be distributed as follows:
Friday, November 12th from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at SPX school pickup
Saturday, November 13th (outside church) from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, November 14th (outside church) from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
If you take a bag, we ask you to shop for all the items on the list and place them in the bag. Each bag will cost approximately $125 to complete. Not all families will be able to provide all items for a child, so please feel free to join with another to adopt a child. If you are not able to take a bag this year, we will have envelopes in the parish and school offices for monetary donations.
The needs of each child will consist of an outfit (top and bottom), package of socks, package of underwear, mittens/gloves, hat and toy. Toys include art sets, baby dolls, trains, blocks, sports balls, Barbie's, etc...(no battery operated or electric toys, please).
In addition to the bags, we will have Christmas trees up in the Narthex, and the school atrium (for those that can't take a bag), and the ornaments will include hooded sweatshirts, pajamas, diapers, blankets, wrapping paper and tape.
Please prayerfully consider adopting a child this year and join us at one of the distribution dates above. If God is not calling you to take a bag, grab an ornament or two off of a tree.
