Living Stewardship
Service - Love in Action
‘...Amen I say to you, whatever you did for the least of my brothers, you did for me.’ Matt. 25:40
Welcome to St. Pius X Catholic Parish. Here at St. Pius. Stewardship is not just about sharing our financial treasure, but sharing our gifts of time and talents, as well. When we recognize that ALL we possess is a gift from God – our abilities, our talents, our material possessions – then we realize that sharing the first portion of all those blessings is the way of life Stewardship (Christ) calls us to. Often we seem to look at what God has not given us and say we have to cut back. Whereas we should be praising God for ALL God has blessed us with and in sacrificial faith return to God through the mission of the Church/parish so God’s work may increase. Stewardship is fundamentally the work of the Spirit in our lives. When we accept our lives as sheer gifts, the |Spirit can use us as apt instruments for spreading the Gospel. Wherever the Spirit works, there is joy. Good stewards are always the joyful bearers of the Good News of Salvation. The life of a Christian steward models the life of Jesus. It is challenging and even difficult, in many respects, yet intense joy comes to those who take the risk to live as Christian stewards. Women andmen who seek to live as stewards learn that “all things work for good for those who love God” (Rom 8:28). After Jesus, we look to Mary as an ideal steward. As the Mother of Christ, she lived her ministry in a spirit of fidelity and service; she responded generously to the call. We must ask ourselves: Do we also wish to be disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian stewards of our world and our Church? Central to our human and Christian vocations, as well as to the unique vocation each one of us receives from God, is that we be good stewards of the gifts we possess. God gives us this divine-human workshop, this world and Church of ours.
We are called to serve. We are called to participate. Stewardship of Service Stewardship of Prayer By embracing our relationship with God and our role as steward of his gifts we are invited to enter into a deeper relationship with God. With our busy lives it is easy to overlook the importance of spending time with God but just as our relationships with each other must be nurtured so must our relationship with God. At St. Pius X we have many ways to assist you in spending time with Christ. Some of these include Daily Mass, prayer groups and retreats which teach us to weave prayer into our lives, bible studies, adult and youth faith formation programs.
